Minister of Music, Clay King began his music career at age four when he sat on the piano bench with his sister and sang for the WMU-the Baptist equivalent of CWF.  He pecked at the piano for years before beginning lessons at age 12 with Dr Hilda Bentley.  Clay became hooked when Rita Darnell taught him how to put in all those things not in the sheet music.  Two years later, he started playing for his home church in Trigg County.  Rev. David Elliott started Clay in nursing home programs, radio shows, and youth meetings.  Clay has studied at the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in Nashville where he met Tracey Cooper, renowned pianist, who gave him monthly instructions for a year.

Clay has traveled with the Kentucky Gospel Singers and the Jubilee Quartet.  During this time, they made three albums.  In college, Clay studied voice with Henry Bonon, who worked with opera singers in New York City.  From here, he served as Minister of Music at the Baptist Church in Cadiz.  In 1985, Jerald Winters contacted Clay a second time to ask if he would play at First Christian Church.  He said he would try for two months.  Guess what?  He is still here and we are very fortunate to have him.   Clay says he will not trade his choir here at First Christian Church for any other in the world.

Pianist, Scott Mitchell began studying piano under the direction of Clay King at the age of eight and continued to study until the age of sixteen.  He has accompanied numerous soloists, choirs and groups.  Scott has spread his talent over the years at Blue Springs Baptist, Second Baptist, and Northside Baptist Churches.
